STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern swimming and diving teams fell 129-114 in a close affair with the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles on Saturday, January 13, at the Recreation Activity Center in Statesboro.
"Today's team mission was to honor our senior swimmers & divers through our efforts & energy - and what a way to celebrate with a competitive spirit against Florida Gulf Coast," said head coach
Allyson Sweeney. "With a handful of notable season-best performances, our student-athletes have successfully positioned themselves to carry momentum into our final competitions of the season."
Georgia Southern earned victories in the 200 Yard Freestyle with
Chiara Alberti posting a 1:53.13 final time, as well as a victory in the 100 Yard Backstroke with
Emma Scruggs' 58.40 final time.
Zuri Clavo also earned the Eagles a victory in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a 5:08.09 final time.
In diving action,
Karlee Wells had a clean sweep of both events, posting a 274.13 in the three meter dive, and posting a 284.33 in the one meter dive, her second-highest score at the one meter this season.
Abby Ounsworth finished in second in the three meter dive with a score of 252.15, and
Anya Weber placed second in the one meter dive with a score of 257.03.

Georgia Southern will conclude the regular season at home with a meet against North Florida. The regular season finale is slated for January 27 at the RAC, with the meet set to begin at 11 a.m.
