Orlando, Fla. — The Georgia Southern swim and dive team wrapped up their third day of competition at the Sun Belt Championships on Friday.
Madlen Wendland started out the day hot as she not only finished fifth in the 100 Fly prelims, but also set a top-five program time of 55.79 as well to move into the A Finals with Jenna Maloy. Later, in the 200 Free prelims, Jamison Tiller would finish fourth and also cement herself in the record books as her 1:50.58 is third all-time in Georgia Southern history. Carsyn Cosman would also set a new PB in the event of 1:51.34 to move to the A Final as well.
In the 100 Breast, both Sarah Luskus and Avery Sargeant set new PBs in the prelims as Luskus would move to the A Finals, along with Logan Belanger. In the 100 Back prelims, four Eagles set new PRs and would place three in the top 10.
The 100 Fly finals saw Wendland finish fifth in the A Finals with Zuri Clavo sharing that title with her in the 400 IM Finals next. For the 200 Free, Tiller and Cosman would finish seventh and eighth in the A Finals, with Tiller adding her time once again to the program's top-five times and she swam a 1:51.60.
The 100 Breast saw Belanger and Luskus finish back-to-back in seventh and eight, respectively, while Scout Chapin represented herself in the A Finals of the 100 back well, finishing seventh with her time of 56.57. In the final event of the night, Georgia Southern took their fifth medal of the Championship,coming in third in the 400 Medley Relay with a season-best time of 3:46.88.
