JONESBORO, Ark. - Georgia Southern women's tennis closed out the road portion of its 2023 regular season schedule on Sunday by picking up a 7-0 Sun Belt Conference win over host Arkansas State in Jonesboro.
The Eagles improved to 15-4 overall and 6-2 in the league with the win, wrapping up an impressive 8-3 record on the road in 2023. Arkansas State falls to 1-14 overall and 0-8 in the Sun Belt with the loss.
Georgia Southern swept all three doubles matches to collect the doubles point, then notched wins in all six singles matches by straight sets.
"The ladies had a very good weekend," Georgia Southern Head Women's Tennis Coach Sean McCaffrey said. "We executed very well in both doubles and singles and found ways to put into play the things we've been focusing on recently. I believe all of our singles players were really on point today, as were our doubles teams. We have a long day of travel ahead of us and we are looking forward to a day of rest before getting back to work on Tuesday to prepare for our upcoming home matches."
The Eagles return to action on Friday, hosting James Madison in a 1 p.m. showdown at the Wallis Tennis Center.
