Georgia Southern softball has returned to Beautiful Eagle Field for the Spring 2023 campaign! All throughout the season, we'll be spotlighting our seniors with our 5 Questions segment. Next up is first baseman Sam Vinson!

Sam joined the Eagles as a junior from Georgia College, where she played two seasons for the Bobcats, earning second-team All-Peach Belt Conference honors. Last year, Sam appeared in 34 games hitting .194 with one home run and seven RBI. This year, Sam has appeared in 16 games, going 5-for-32 with a pair of doubles and three RBI. The Jefferson, Ga., native was a Sun Belt Conference Academic Commissioner's List honoree and she is currently pursuing her bachelor's degree in health and physical education at Georgia Southern.

1) What made you decide to come to Georgia Southern to play softball?

I started out at a D2 school and Georgia Southern gave me an opportunity to fulfill my dream of being a D1 athlete.

2) What's one thing that people don't know about you?

I am bi-lingual! (Spanish)

3) If you weren't playing softball, what other sport do you think you might play collegiately?

Track and field. I would compete in throwing events like the shotput.

4) In a movie about your life, what actor or actress would play you?

Sofia Vergara.

5) Do you have a phrase, saying or song that helps you get through a particularly tough day?
