STATESBORO - South Alabama claimed a Sun Belt series win from host Georgia Southern on Saturday with a 6-1 victory at Eagle Field.
The Jaguars won just their second series in Statesboro in the all-time series between the two schools, with the other coming in 2016. South Alabama moved to 31-13 overall and 13-4 in the Sun Belt with the win, while Georgia Southern falls to 17-25 overall and 6-11 in the league. The two teams will wrap up the series with a Noon game on Sunday.
South Alabama struck for three runs over the first two innings to take a 3-0 lead. The Eagles got one back in the bottom of the second inning on 
Katie Perkins' RBI single, bringing home 
Janai Conklin.
The score remained 3-1 until the seventh inning, when the Jaguars put the game away with three runs, including a solo home run from Emma Kropp.
Jenna Hardy (14-7) notched the win for the Jaguars, scattering five hits and giving up one unearned run in seven innings, striking out five. 
Alana Barnard (1-6) took the loss for the Eagles, giving up 10 hits and six runs - five earned - in seven innings of work, walking one and striking out four.
Faith Barth went 2-for-3 for the Eagles offensively.
