STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern baseball team will begin a four-game road trip with the final match up of the regular season against the Kennesaw State Owls on Wednesday, April 19. First pitch from Fred Stillwell Stadium is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The Eagles and the Owls have already met once this season, with Kennesaw State taking a narrow 4-3 victory over the Eagles in Statesboro. Georgia Southern was mounting a late comeback in that game, but the KSU pitching was able to keep the Eagles at bay to secure the one run win.
Georgia Southern is 10-5 all-time against Kennesaw State in Kennesaw, and has won four of the last five meetings at Fred Stillwell Stadium. The two first met in 2007 and the series has become a regular yearly series since.
Georgia Southern comes into the match up with an 18-18 record after sweeping a Saturday doubleheader against Appalachian State, which included a 19-5 run-rule victory in the second game of teh doubleheader. Kennesaw State brings a 16-18 record into the game after falling two games to one to the Liberty Flames in an ASUN conference match up.
Georgia Southern will start RHP
Ben Stuart (0-0, 4.70 ERA) for his first collegiate start on Wednesday. Stuart is a true freshman from Statham, Ga., and played high school baseball at North Oconee. Kennesaw State will send out LHP Brayden Eidson (1-4, 7.71 ERA), the same pitcher the Eagles saw the first go-around against KSU.
