HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Georgia Southern baseball team will take on the Southern Miss Golden Eagles in the first meeting between the two squads as conference opponents. First pitch from Pete Taylor Park is set for Friday afternoon at 5 p.m. Eastern.
The two schools have not met since the 2018 season, when Southern Miss swept Georgia Southern at Pete Taylor Park. Prior to that meeting, the lone meeting between the two squads was in 2007 during the Wiregrass Classic in Dothan, Alabama. Southern Miss holds a 4-0 record all-time against the Eagles.
Southern Miss comes into the game with a 12-8 record after falling in two games in its first Sun Belt Conference series on the road at Texas State, as well as falling in a midweek game against New Orleans. Georgia Southern comes in with a 11-10 record after sweeping its SBC opening series against South Alabama at home, then edging out Mercer 12-11 in midweek action.

Southern Miss will toss the SBC Preseason Pitcher of the Year Tanner Hall (RHP, 3-2, 2.93 ERA) on Friday, RHP Matt Adams (2-1, 3.18 ERA) for Saturday's first game, and RHP Niko Mazza (2-1, 3.16 ERA) for Saturday's second game.
Note that the scheduled times for the series this weekend have been changed. The Friday night game has been moved up to a 5 p.m. ET (4 p.m. CT) start time, and the teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The first game is set for 2 p.m. ET (1 p.m. CT), with the second game beginning approximately 45 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
