STATESBORO – Georgia Southern guard
Kamari Brown has been selected to compete in the State Farm College Slam Dunk Championship Thursday, March 30, at the Bayou Music Center in downtown Houston.
The event will air live on ESPN2 at 7:30 p.m. ET, and tickets can be purchased
here.Â
Brown has a 47-inch vertical leap and has been a fan favorite of the Hanner Fieldhouse faithful since his arrival on campus in 2020. The fifth-year senior recently completed his final year of eligibility and tallied 680 points, 317 rebounds, 91 assists, 54 blocks and 58 steals in 85 career games for the Eagles.
The event is part of the Hoops House, the Houston home for basketball fans from across the country, where they will be treated to multiple days of fan-centric events prior to the NCAA Tournament semifinal games April 1 and the championship game April 3.Â
The Hoops House also includes the 3-Point Championships, which will air live on ESPN2 on Thursday, March 30, and the High School Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships, which will take place on Friday, March 31, and air on CBS on Sunday, April 2.
These events have routinely hosted future basketball stars, several of whom are currently part of the young core of the Houston Rockets. Jabari Smith, the No. 3 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, was part of the High School Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships in 2021, Jalen Green committed to the 2020 event prior to its cancelation and Kevin Porter Jr. participated in the dunk contest in 2018.Â
Other All-Stars and long-time professionals to participate in these events include Gary Payton, Steve Nash, Jason Terry, Wesley Matthews, Trae Young, Donovan Mitchell, Ariel Atkins, Jordin Canada, Cappie Pondexter and Tiffany Hayes.
