5 Questions With: Senior Paula Hijos

The Georgia Southern women's tennis team is back on the court! All throughout the season, we'll give you a closer look at the team with our 5 Questions segment. First up is senior Paula Hijos!

Paula is a senior from Jaca, Spain, who is in her fourth year with the Eagles. She has notched 38 career singles wins and is a three-time member of the Sun Belt Conference Academic Commissioner's List. While in Spain, she won Regional "Masters" Championships in U12, U14, U16 and U18!

1) What made you decide to come to Georgia Southern to play collegiately?

Because of the people. My teammates, my coaches, the community make this place special. They are family and they have become my home away from home! Also the culture of the program, and the way everyone has always helped me and taught me since I first stepped on campus my freshman year is something that makes Georgia Southern the best place to grow as a person, student and athlete.

2) If you weren't playing tennis, what other sport do you think you might be playing right now, either professionally or in college?

I would be skiing. Ski is very popular in Jaca, where I am from and since I am a kid I have always skied until I had to focus on either tennis or ski and I decided to play tennis.

3) What's the one place in the world that you'd love to travel to someday?

I would love to go to Norway, or the North of Europe and be able to see the Northern Lights.

4) Did you have a favorite toy growing up?

I have a teddy bear that my grandpa gave me as a gift when I was born and I used to bring it everywhere with me when I was a child. I still have it in my room back home.

5) What is your favorite food?

Spanish Omelette (potatoes, onion and egg) for sure. My mum used to cook it every Friday for dinner when I was a kid and I try to do it here but mine is not even close to the one my mum cooks.
