STATESBORO - Georgia Southern women's basketball junior
Terren Ward has been named the final Sun Belt Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the 2022-23 regular season, announced today by league officials.
Ward averaged 23.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in a pair of Sun Belt road wins last week as Georgia Southern closed out the 2022-23 regular season by achieving 20 wins for the first time in 20 years.
The Jesup, Ga., native tallied 29 points and six rebounds in Georgia Southern's 75-59 win at South Alabama on Wednesday, her ninth 20+ point performance this season. Ward then followed that up with 17 points and 13 rebounds at Georgia State on Friday, her 10th double-double of the season, in the Eagles' 67-61 win over the Panthers. She added five steals and four assists in the win over the Panthers as well.
This is the second Sun Belt Player of the Week honor for Ward this season as she was also the league's Player of the Week honoree on January 3rd. It is also her fourth career Sun Belt Player of the Week award.
Ward and the Eagles open up action in the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Wednesday, facing off against the winner of Tuesday's game between No. 11-seed Arkansas State and No. 14-seed ULM in a 6 p.m. ET matchup from Pensacola.
