STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern baseball team is set to welcome the SoCon's Mercer Bears to J.I. Clements Stadium on Tuesday, February 28. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.

Mercer is the second and final SoCon opponent that the Eagles will face this season. Georgia Southern previously hosted ETSU and took the series two games to one. The Eagles will face Mercer one more time this season, traveling to Macon, Ga., and taking on the Bears at OrthoGeorgia Park on March 22.

The Bears come into the game carrying a 5-3 record after falling to Rhode Island two games to one in its previous weekend series. The Bears had won four games in a row before falling in consecutive days to the Rams. The Eagles bring a 4-3 record into the game after taking the series from ETSU over the last weekend, but fell on the Sunday game, 10-2.

Georgia Southern owns a commanding 119-49-1 record in the all-time series against the Bears, and swept the season series in 2022. The Eagles are currently holding a two-game win streak over Mercer coming into the evening.

Georgia Southern will throw junior RHP Jaylen Paden (0-0, 1 SV, 11.25 ERA) against the Bears, making his third appearance and second start of the season. The Bears will turn to junior RHP Garrett Sloan (0-0, 0.00 ERA), who will be making his third appearance of the season, and the first start of his career.

Tuesday's game will be a new promotion to J.I. Clements Stadium, Top Gun Night. Fans who come to the game will recieve a Georgia Southern-themed Top Gun t-shirt on a first come, first serve basis. There will also be Top Gun themed music, games, and in-game promotions!
