Eagles Comeback Foiled by Mocs

Eagles fall at No. 4 position for the final point
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Georgia Southern men's tennis team fell 4-3 in a road contest against the Chattanooga Mocs on Sunday afternoon.
The two squads began in the doubles matches where Alexandros Roumpis and Valentin Dun made quick work of their opponents at the No. 3 position to put the Eagles ahead first, but the Mocs at the No. 2 position were able to even up the doubles matches with a 6-3 win. Pol del Castillo Masich and Judson Blair were pushed to extra sets at the No. 1 position, but fell by a 8-6 final score to give the Mocs the 1-0 lead in the match.
In singles, Blair finished first at the No. 5 position with a pair of 6-1 victories to tie up the match at 1-1. UTC would take the lead back after Roumpis at the No. 6 position fell 2-6, 2-6, but the Eagles would force another tie after Williams at the No. 2 position dominated his opponent with a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Del Castillo took a second set tiebreaker at the No. 1 position to put the Eagles up 3-2 on the day, but a tiebreaker finish for the Mocs at the No. 4 position would tie it all up at 3-3. Pierre Mouesca forced a third set thanks to a second set victory, but UTC took the third set (4-6, 6-3, 3-6) to take a tight 4-3 victory over the Eagles.
UP NEXT
The Eagles will return to Kennesaw, Ga., to finish the singles portion of the suspended match from Saturday, Feb. 11, beginning at 11 AM. After that, the Eagles will host two matches during the weekend, first a Friday afternoon match against South Carolina State, followed by a Sunday morning match against Stetson. Those matches are scheduled for 2 PM and 10 AM, respectively.
