Track and Field adds three to roster for 2024-2025 season
STATESBORO – Georgia Southern Track and Field Head Coach David Neville announced the addition of three student-athletes who have signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Eagles beginning in 2024-2025 season.
The new signees are: Jayla Lawrence (Richmond Hill, Ga./Richmond Hill), Emily Wheldon (Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Kenny), and Julia Wilson (Richmond Hill, Ga./Richmond Hill).
Jayla Lawrence (Richmond Hill, Ga./Richmond Hill HS) – Sprints/Hurdles
Competed for coach Levi Sybert at Richmond Hill High School … Named MVP for the Wildcats … Ran for Coastal Georgia Track team under Coach Taylor … Named All-American … Two-time AAU Club Champion.
Emily Wheldon (Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Kenny High School) – Distance
Competed for five years for coach Jackie Hardin at Bishop Kenny High School … All-First Coast cross country 2020 Honorable Mention … 2020 FHSAA State Track and Field Qualifier in the 800 … 2021-2022 All News 4 Jax girls cross country Honorable Mention … Florida Times Union All-First Coast cross country team Honorable Mention … 2022-2023 Florida Times Union All-First Coast girls cross country third team … 2023 Florida Times Union Athlete of the Week … Top 5 All Time 5K Bishop Kenny girls leaderboard … Owns school record in the 800… Also competed in basketball … Personal best of 18:50 in 5K.
Julia Wilson (Richmond Hill, Ga./Richmond Hill HS) – Distance
