
Eagles Sprint to Gold, Podium Finishes Highlight SBC Finale

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Georgia Southern University wrapped up the 2026 Sun Belt Indoor Championships on a high note, producing two conference champions, two additional podium finishes, and a wave of all-time marks and personal bests to cap a strong showing.
NaJ Watson opened the final day in dominant fashion, clocking 7.35 to claim the 60m conference title and secure the No. 2 mark in program history, eclipsing her previous 7.36 set in 2025.
Shatalya Dorsett followed closely behind, placing fourth in 7.38 and missing the podium by just .001. Dorsett returned later to seize gold in the 200m with a 23.51, matching her career best and the No. 3 all-time program mark, while Watson added a third-place finish in 23.56.
In the field events, Amara Thomas led the high jump squad with a sixth-place clearance of 1.71m, a personal best that moved her to No. 2 on the program's all-time list. The 4x400 relay team of Alanna Smith, Adonijah Currie, Dorsett and Watson captured another conference crown, running 3:41.12 for the No. 2 all-time mark.
Distance runners also delivered a strong showing in the 3K, highlighted by Jessie Schroeder's 10:18.52 to lead the Eagles and maintain her No. 4 all-time standing. Behind her, Lauren Voutour (10:32.56), Hannah Douglas (10:36.64), Tristen Crosby (10:34.68) and Cameron Belcher (10:40.04) each recorded personal bests.
In the triple jump, Julia Versluis and Jailah Lee paced the group with strong PR performances, placing seventh (12.25m) and eighth (12.19m), respectively.
Georgia Southern finished sixth overall, matching its team result from the 2025 championships.
