Reau Claims Individual Title at Edisto Island Invitational

Georgia Southern finishes second in the tournament

EDISTO ISLAND, S.C. – Louise Reau claims individual title as Georgia Southern women's golf takes second place at the Edisto Island Invitational. Reau compiled three stellar rounds shooting 68-70-67(205) 5-under to win the individual title three strokes ahead of second place. 

Reau shot 2-under par with five birdies in round one and shot an even par in the second setting up her final round firing 3-under with four birdies and was bogey free on the front nine to secure the victory. The freshman's score of 205 tied Sarunchana Rattanasin for the lowest 54-hole total in school history. 

Haley Yerxa finished in the top-10, tying for sixth shooting 3-over (72-69-72 (213)) tallying nine birdies over the three rounds. Abby Newton finished inside the top-15 firing 77-69-70 (216) and in the final round she was bogey free on the back nine but a quadruple bogey set her at even as she finished 6-over and tied for 12th. 

Newton and Regina Plascencia tied for 12th as Plascencia shot 71-71-74 (216) with 10 birdies and an eagle in the second round on hole 10. Emma von Hoffmann rounded out the Eagle lineup shooting 79-71-81(231) to finish tied T62. 

Playing as an individual, Avery Robinson tied Newton and Plascencia for 12th shooting 72-74-70 (216). Robinson was bogey free in the third round on the front nine and recorded nine total birdies along with an eagle on hole 10. 

Alex Stevenson and Karlee Vardas both played as individuals finishing T24 and T62, respectively. Stevenson shot 81-68-70 (219) to finish 9-over par and tallied ten birdies in three rounds. 

As a team, the Eagles set the record for lowest 54-hole total tallying 850 strokes breaking the previous record by one stroke set at the Buccaneer Classic during the 2021-22 season. 

GS led the field in Par 3 scoring. Plascencia and Robinson both eagled on hole 10.

Next Up
Georgia Southern hosts The Southern at Savannah Golf Club beginning on Monday, Oct. 23. Two rounds will be played on Monday and the final round will be on Tuesday, Oct. 24. A shotgun start is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
