The Eagles take on James Madison Saturday at 7 p.m.

Postgame radio interview with Brian Burg

BOONE, N.C. – Jalen Finch went the length of the court and made a buzzer-beating layup to lift Georgia Southern to a 67-65 Sun Belt men's basketball win over Appalachian State Thursday night in the Holmes Center.

Appalachian State's Donovan Gregory tied the score 65-65 with a pull-up jumper over tough defense by Eagle guard Tai Strickland with 5.6 seconds left. Kamari Brown led Finch with the inbounds pass, and the fifth-year senior guard picked it up just before halfcourt, crossed over to his right hand to split two App defenders just below the 3-point line and scooped the right-handed layup off the glass and in as the final horn sounded.

Eagles of the Game
Finch finished with 14 points, four rebounds and two assists, and Andrei Savrasov led the Eagles with 21 points and 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. Tyren Moore scored 14.

Key Moments
The Eagles (11-7, 4-1) trailed by 11 points following a C.J. Huntley triple from the corner with 5:56 left in the first half. GS put together a 16-3 run, outscoring Appalachian State (9-9, 2-3) 14-3 the rest of the half and netting the first bucket of the second period to take a 35-33 lead, its first of the contest.

Moore ignited the spurt with consecutive 3-pointers, Savrasov added four points and Carlos Curry had a big putback to end the first half. GS held the Mountaineers to 0 for 10 at the other end during the stretch.
