STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern baseball team will host Mercer in J.I Clements Stadium on Tuesday, May 17, for the final midweek game of the season. First pitch between the teams is set for 6 p.m. in Statesboro.
Georgia Southern owns a 118-49-1 record over Mercer in their 75-year history of playing against each other. The Eagles and the Bears have met once this season already, when the Eagles defeated Mercer by a final score of 8-3 at OrthoGeorgia Park in Macon, Ga. The game was highlighted by
Austin Thompson's 100
th-career RBI from a solo home run to give the Eagles a three-run lead earlier in the game.
Georgia Southern carries a 34-17 overall record into the match-up, most recently winning their Sun Belt Conference series over Little Rock. Mercer comes in with a 38-13 record, after taking the two final games in a three-game series against SoCon opponent VMI.
