STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern baseball team will have their final three-game Sun Belt Conference road series this weekend against the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Trojans, starting on Friday, May 13. Friday's game has a scheduled first pitch time of 7 p.m. ET.
Georgia Southern owns a 23-8 record over Little Rock, and took three of four of the contests they played in 2019, the last time the two teams saw each other. GS took the regular season meeting two games to one in Statesboro, then beat UALR in the Sun Belt Tournament 10-3 two months later. Georgia Southern has won seven of their last eight against Little Rock and is 12-4 since joining the Sun Belt.
Georgia Southern brings a 32-16 overall record into the competition, and an 18-6 conference record, their best conference start since 2000. Georgia Southern swept Troy in their previous conference outing and fell to Georgia Tech in their midweek game. Little Rock is 21-22 overall with a 9-14 SBC record after getting swept by conference-foe Coastal Carolina in their previous weekend series.
The last two series for the Eagles will see them sending off two Sun Belt Conference members to other homes. Little Rock is leaving the conference and becoming a member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC), and UT-Arlington will be leaving to become a member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). Both of these moves will happen on July 1 of this year.
Georgia Southern will send out their typical weekend rotation, with LHP
Ty Fisher (3-2, 3.23 ERA) getting the nod for Friday night, and RHP
Jaylen Paden (5-1, 4.73 ERA) starting on the mound on Saturday. Little Rock will send RHP Hayden Arnold (4-5, 3.25 ERA) to pitch on Friday and RHP Hoss Brewer (3-2, 5.81 ERA) on Saturday. Neither team has named a Sunday starter.
Note: Saturday's game will not be televised. Fans are encouraged to keep up with the action through the Georgia Southern Sports Network with
