Georgia Southern wraps up the regular season by hosting Georgia State for a three-game Sun Belt series beginning Thursday
MOBILE - Olivia Lackie spun a two-hit shutout to lead South Alabama softball to a 4-0 Sun Belt victory over visiting Georgia Southern on Sunday afternoon in Mobile.
The Jaguars avenge last season's Sun Belt sweep at the hand of the Eagles by completing the three-game series sweep, moving to 23-17 overall and 15-4 in the league. Georgia Southern falls to 11-32 overall and 4-17 in the Sun Belt. The Eagles will wrap up the 2022 regular season by hosting Georgia State in a three-game league series, which begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Eagle Field.
All four of the Jaguars' runs on Sunday came via the longball. Stephanie Gonzalez had a solo shot in the second inning, then Kamdyn Kvistad and Gabby Stanger each went deep in the fourth inning in the three-run frame.
The Eagles' two hits came from Jess Mazur and Shelby Barfield.
Lackie walked two and struck out four in the complete-game shutout, improving to 13-6 on the season. Kastin Belogorska (5-13) took the loss in the circle for the Eagles, giving up five hits and four runs in 3 1/3 innings of work.
