STATESBORO – The 24
th-ranked Georgia Southern baseball team will play host to the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers in a three-game Sun Belt Conference series starting on Friday, April 29, at J.I. Clements Stadium. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Georgia Southern is 21-17 all-time against Coastal Carolina in a series that has been tightly competitive since CCU joined the SBC in 2017. The two squads have played 13 games since 2017, and the Eagles hold a slight 7-6 advantage since then. The Eagles are 13-6 all-time at home against CCU.
The Eagles come into the match with a 28-13 overall record and a 14-4 conference record, a game behind Texas State for first place in the Sun Belt. The Eagles swept South Alabama last weekend and split their midweek series with Kennesaw State, winning 9-6 on Wednesday. Coastal Carolina is 23-14-1 overall and 11-6-1 in conference, riding a four-game win streak into the contest. The Chanticleers swept UT-Arlington in Conway, S.C., and defeated College of Charleston in Patriots Point by a score of 17-7.
The Eagles will be led by the same rotation as they have been for the last few weeks, with
Ty Fisher (3.23 ERA, 2-1) leading the charge on Friday night,
Jaylen Paden (4.20 ERA, 5-0) will take the mound on Saturday, and the Eagles will announce a Sunday starter at a later time. Coastal Carolina will send out Reid VanScoter (2.56 ERA, 6-2) on Friday, Michael Knorr (2.68 ERA, 3-0) on Saturday, and Nick Parker (4.50, 3-2 ERA) on Sunday.
