STATESBORO - Texas State hurler Jessica Mullins outdueled Georgia Southern sophomore
Kastin Belogorska in a 2-0 Sun Belt Conference softball victory on Friday evening at Eagle Field.
The Bobcats (27-17, 11-8 SBC) stretched their current win streak to seven with the win, while Georgia Southern (9-27, 4-12 SBC) saw its losing streak reach seven with the loss. The two teams meet for game two of their Sun Belt series on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Texas State scored single runs in the second inning, on on a Tori McCann RBI single, and in the third inning, on a sacrifice fly by Anna Jones.
That's all the offense Mullins would need as she limited the Eagles to just a pair of hits, a
Jess Mazur single in the second inning and a
Madi Banks single in the third. She improved to 18-11 on the season with the shutout, striking out four.
Belogorska (3-10) scattered nine hits, giving up two runs in the complete-game performance, walking one while striking out three.
