STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern baseball team continues their road trip with a three-game conference series against the Ragin' Cajuns of Louisiana in Lafayette, Louisiana. The series begins on Friday, April 1, with first pitch set for 7 p.m. ET.
This is the first regular season contest between the two squads since 2018, with their last two meetings coming in the 2019 and 2021 Sun Belt Conference Tournament, with the Eagles winning both of those games in extra innings.
The Eagles come into the series with a 17-8 record, following a sweep on Sun Belt member Arkansas State on the previous weekend, and dropping a midweek contest at Georgia. Louisiana carries a 12-12 record into the weekend, but have won three of their last four. The Ragin' Cajuns took the series from South Alabama with wins on Friday and Sunday, and defeated Southeastern Louisiana in their midweek contest.
The Eagles will carry two of their three members of the rotation into the series, with RHP
Jaylen Paden (3-0, 4.28 ERA) getting the start on Friday and LHP
Ty Fisher (1-1, 2.40 ERA) taking the mound on Saturday, and LHP
Danny Madden (0-1, 5.71 ERA) will close out the series on Sunday. Louisiana will lean on LHP Brandon Talley (0-1, 3.76 ERA) on Friday night, RHP Jacob Schultz (1-3, 4.58 ERA) for Saturday, and will send RHP Jeff Wilson (1-1, 4.38 ERA) to pitch on Sunday.
