Eagles Begin Conference Play on the Mountain

Eagles and Mountaineers renew rivalry in Boone

STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern baseball team will begin Sun Belt Conference play on March 18 with a weekend series against rival Appalachian State. Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m., Saturday's is slated for 3 p.m., and Sunday's finale will begin at 1 p.m.

Georgia Southern comes into the weekend with an 11-6 record, coming off a big win against in-state foe Mercer. The win gave the Eagles a huge RPI boost, settling the Eagles at number four in RPI. The Mountaineers come into the series with a 6-9 record, after losing their last weekend series to Charlotte and dropping their midweek game against North Carolina A&T.

The Eagles will start Jaylen Paden on Friday, welcome back Ty Fisher on Saturday, and will rely on Ben Johnson for Sunday. The Mountaineers are going with a rotation of LHP Tyler Tuthill, RHP Xander Hamilton, and RHP Trey Tujetsch.
