Key Moments
After the Eagles erased a 12-point halftime deficit and took their first lead of the game, Troy responded with a 15-4 run over a stretch of 6:30 to retake control of the contest. Duke Deen, TK Smith and Kieffer Punter hit triples during the run, and a pair of Christyon Eugene free throws put the Trojans (16-7, 7-3) ahead 52-43 with 6:05 to play.
The Eagles (11-10, 4-6) scored seven of the next nine points in the game to cut the margin to 55-50 on a McCadden conventional 3-point play with 1:20 to go, but the Trojans made 6 of 7 from the free-throw line, including four in a row by Miles, inside the final 1:01 to seal the win.
Trailing 35-23 halftime, Georgia Southern forced turnovers on eight of Troy's first 12 possessions of the second half and went on a 16-2 run to take a 39-37 lead on a driving layup by Archie. Toyambi scored five during the stretch and McCadden netted four.
The Eagles got off to a rough start, committing turnovers on their first three possessions of the game, and GS did not make a field goal until 6:30 into the contest as Troy built a 13-2 advantage. The Eagles righted the ship and scored nine straight points, making the margin 13-11 on a McCadden jumper midway through the first half.
