STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern men's tennis team will play Lipscomb and Belmont on the road on Friday, Feb. 25, and Saturday, Feb. 26, respectively. The Lipscomb match is at 6:00 p.m. ET at the Richland Country Club in Nashville, TN, and the Belmont match is at the Hadley Tennis Center at 4:00 p.m. on the campus of Belmont University.
LIPSCOMB
SERIES: The Eagles and the Bison have played twice, and the Eagles are 2-0 in the series. The teams played in a home-and-home series in 2018 and 2019, with the Eagles winning 4-3 in Statesboro in 2018, and winning 5-2 in Nashville in 2019.
LIPSCOMB OUTLOOK: The Bison currently sit a 3-5 on the season, and come into the match on a two match losing skid. They have faced one common opponent, falling to the Furman Paladins on Feb. 19, 6-1. Maksim Bogdanovich was named ASUN Conference Player of the Week at the beginning of the month, after earning three wins in two matches.
BELMONT
SERIES: The series between the Bruins and the Eagles is tied at 1-1, with the Eagles falling to Belmont in the last match the two played against each other. Belmont beat the Eagles in 2019 by a final score of 4-3.
BELMONT OUTLOOK: The Bruins come into the match with a 3-3 record, riding a three match losing streak. The Bruins have also played Furman, who defeated them 5-2 to begin their losing skid. Ian Cruz was titled Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, after being their only player to earn a point against the Vanderbilt Commodores last week.
UP NEXT: The Eagles will return home for a pair of matches, hosting the South Carolina State Bulldogs on Sunday, March 6, at 1:00 p.m., and the Mercer Bears on Friday, March 11, at 2:00 p.m.
