STATESBORO – Georgia Southern baseball will host its home opener on Tuesday, Feb. 22, as the Eagles welcome the No. 19 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets into J.I. Clements Stadium, with first pitch set for 6 p.m. This is the first game in a home-and-home series with the Yellow Jackets, with the return trip in Atlanta set for later in the season.

The Eagles enter the game with an 0-3 record after opening the season against No. 19 Tennessee in Knoxville, while the Yellow Jackets enter with a 3-0 record, sweeping Wright State to start their season. GS will send out grad transfer Danny Madden to pitch, while GT will send out Dalton Smith.

• Towson transfer Danny Madden will get his first start for the Eagles Tuesday night. Madden was the second on Towson's team with 55 strikeouts last season, and led all starters with a 4.58 ERA. He earned his career high strikeouts (seven) against Georgia Southern last season in just 3.2 innings.
• Madden appeared in one inning of action against Tennessee, where he only allowed one hit and got two strikeouts to set up the first two outs of the inning.
• The last time the two teams played in Statesboro, the Yellow Jackets narrowly escaped with a 4-3 win. The Eagles had a 3-2 lead until the top of the ninth.
• This is the first time in nearly two years the teams will play, after not meeting at all in 2021.
