Eagle Softball Splits on Day Two at Home Event

Richardson’s shut out in game two highlights win over Radford
STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern softball team split a pair of games Saturday on the second day of the Bash in the Boro, falling to Binghamton 5-1 before riding a strong performance from Kyleigh Richardson in the circle to a 6-0 win over Radford in the second game of the day.
GAME 1: In the opener, Binghamton scored a pair of runs in both the second and third innings to down the Eagles 5-1.
The Eagles scored first on a double steal in the first inning, but couldn't mount any more runs after that. Faith Shirley, Ashlynn Gunter and Madi Banks had the hits for Southern.
Kastin Belogorska (L, 0-1) went three innings in her GS debut, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits with two strikeouts. Anna Feil pitched the final four innings, allowing one run on four hits with four strikeouts.

GAME 2: After regrouping from their first loss of the season, the Eagles jumped all over Radford in the first inning with three runs on five hits. Shirley drove in Chandler Caldwell with a double to the gap. She trotted home on Jess Mazur's first home run of the season. In the fifth inning, Mazur came through with an RBI triple to plate pinch runner Ashleigh Duty to highlight a three-run inning.
Richardson (W, 1-0) was dominant in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout. The junior allowed just four hits and struck out four in her first appearance of the season.
Shirley and Mazur both had two hits while Caldwell, Gunter, Olivia Creamer and Courtney Ball all had one.
