HOUSTON – Andrei Savrasov led five Eagles in double figures in the scoring column with 15 points, and Georgia Southern shot a season-high 63 percent on its way to an 84-77 men's basketball win over Houston Christian Saturday night in Sharp Gymnasium.

Savrasov connected on 7 of 9 from the floor, and
Jalen Finch contributed 12 points, eight assists, six rebounds and three steals.
Tai Strickland scored 13, and
Kamari Brown tallied 12 points, five assists and two steals.
Kaden Archie totaled 10 points and three rebounds, and
Carlos Curry finished with nine points and four boards.
Key Moments
Georgia Southern (2-3) led by as many as 24 points in the first half, but HCU (1-4) whittled it down over the rest of the game and trailed 77-73 following a Sam Hoffman triple from the corner with 1:47 to go. The Eagles answered as Strickland was fouled driving to the hoop and made a free throw, and Finch got a steal and fed Brown for a runout dunk to make the score 80-73 with 1:09 left.
Archie made another huge defensive play, blocking a shot at the rim, and Finch was fouled and made two free throws for an 82-73 cushion with 37 seconds to play. HCU had the ball down by six with 12 seconds left and was desperately searching for a 3-pointer, but Brown came up with a steal to seal the win.
Archie scored six points in a 13-0 run for the Eagles, and
Nate Brafford capped it with a triple from the corner to give GS a 29-13 cushion with 8:28 left in the first half. After Brycen Long made a triple for Houston Christian, Brown scored four points in a 15-5 spurt, and Curry's hook shot in the paint gave the Eagles a 44-21 lead with 2:23 to play in the period. GS would go on to lead 47-28 at the break.

- A night after shooting 62 percent in the first half at Rice, Georgia Southern shot 70 percent in the first frame at Houston Christian.
