HOUSTON – Carlos Curry scored a career high 16 points, including two huge buckets in the final two minutes, and added eight rebounds to lead Georgia Southern to a 63-57 men's basketball win over Western Michigan  Sunday afternoon in Tudor Fieldhouse.

Eagles of the Game
Curry made all eight of his field goal attempts and also blocked a shot. Andrei Savrasov finished with 10 points, eight rebounds and three steals, and Tyren Moore score eight.

Key Moments
Georgia Southern (3-3) held Western Michigan (2-4) to three field goals in the final seven minutes of the contest. After Markeese Hastings' layup cut the Eagles' lead to five points, Curry answered by knocking down a mid-range jumper.

Lamar Norman Jr. made a long 3-pointer to make the score 59-55 with 1:14 left, but Curry answered again with a turnaround jumper. The Eagles forced a Norman missed 3-pointer on their next trip, and Jalen Finch was fouled and made both free throws to make the margin 63-55 with 22.2 seconds to play.

The score was tied 12-12 when Kaden Archie, Moore and Savrasov hit consecutive 3-pointers to spark a 23-7 Eagle run. Nate Brafford made a 3-pointer and Tai Strickland added two more triples, and Georgia Southern led 35-19 with 3:54 left in the first half.

Western Michigan outscored the Eagles 11-2 over the first 4:51 of the second half and worked the margin down to 39-38 on an and-1 by Norman (23 points). Curry scored eight points as GS responded with a 12-3 spurt, and a monster one-handed dunk by Kamari Brown made the score 51-41 midway through the second period.
