STATESBORO - Georgia Southern men's tennis is set to take part in the ITA Regionals on the campus of Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, from Thursday, October 20 to Sunday, October 23.
Four Eagles are taking part in the competition: Pol del Castillo will be in the main draw, and Judson Blair, Dimitris Paliouras, and Alexandros Roumpis are in the qualifying draw.
Del Castillo will begin his quest in the main bracket against FSU's Alex Bulte, and the winner of that match will take on the winner of #10 Magnus Johnson (FGCU) and Togan Tokac (UF) on Friday.
In the qualifiying draws, a pair of Eagles see themselves seeded in the top three. Paliouras is the second seed in the singles qualifiying bracket and will take on Jackson Armistead from Miami (FL). The winner of that match gets the winner of Quinn Snyder (UCF) and Juan Lopez (FGCU). Blair is the third seed in the same bracket and will take on Seru Tezuka from Kennesaw State in his first match. The winner of that match will take on the winner of Hunter Robbins (FAU) and Bendix Schroeder (Stetson). Finally, Roumpis is slated to take on Breno Marques from North Florida to open up his action. The winner of that match will take the winner of top-seeded Juan Jose Rodriguez (Stetson) and Edward Tymes (GAST).
These four Eagles will also take part in the Doubles competition. In the top half of the bracket, del Castillo and Blair will take on Filipe Costa and Megiel Perez Pena from Georgia, with the winner taking on 11th-seeded Roberts Grinvalds and Gabriel Datei from GAST. In the bottom half of the bracket, Roumpis and Jacob Mitchell will take on UCF's Quinn Snyder and Luca Hotze. The winner of that match will take on third-seeded Nate Bonetto and Will Grant from Florida.
