PREVIEW: Eagles Prepare for Border Battles With Stetson and UNF

STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern men's tennis team will continue their second road trip as they head down to the Sunshine State, where they will face two ASUN teams in the Stetson Hatters and North Florida Ospreys on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m. both days.

STETSON

SERIES: The Eagles and the Hatters have met 12 times on the hardtop, with the Eagles holding a 4-8 record all time against the Hatters. Georgia Southern enters the match on a three match skid, with their last win coming in 2017 in Statesboro.

STETSON OUTLOOK: The Hatters have started the season at 4-4, with over half the teams they have played so far being teams the Eagles have seen or will see in the future. The Hatters have fallen to Sun Belt Conference teams in South Alabama and Georgia State, and have also fallen to Florida State, who the Eagles opened up their season with. Diogo Marques was tabbed ASUN Player of the Week last week, after earning a 1-0 doubles record and 2-0 singles record against Mercer and Georgia State.

NORTH FLORIDA

SERIES: The Eagles and the Ospreys have met each other 21 times in their histories, with the Eagles holding a record of 9-12 against UNF. Georgia Southern enters the match with a six match losing skid against UNF, with the last win coming in 2008.

NORTH FLORIDA OUTLOOK: UNF has begun their 2022 campaign at 2-4, facing two common opponents with the Eagles. UNF lost to FSU to open their season, and defeated College of Charleston in January. Jones Hartenstein has been named the ASUN Player of the Week, as he carried a 2-0 record at the No. 1 singles position, defeating a player from Clemson and a player from UNC Asheville.

UP NEXT: The Eagles will remain on the road as they head north to Nashville, TN to face the Lipscomb Bison on Friday, February 25. First serve is set for 6:00 PM.
