TALLAHASSEE, FL – Georgia Southern men's tennis opened the 2022 season, falling to Florida State University 7-0 on Sunday. The Eagles will continue to play on the road, as they head up to Winston-Salem, NC, to play the 10th ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons on January 20.
Florida State set the tone early on, as the team took the first point of the doubles against
Laurent Julia Calac and
Dimitris Paliouras.
Alexandros Roumpis and
Jacob Mitchell fought and tied the double matches at 1-1 with a 6-4 win, but Pol del Castillo and
Tao Castillo fell in the final match of the doubles, 7-5.
FSU took control of the singles matches with a 6-0 sweep, with Pol del Castillo and
Alexandros Roumpis pushing their matches to a third set.
