• Georgia Southern plays host to East Division preseason favorite Coastal Carolina Saturday and longtime rival Appalachian State Sunday in its first Sun Belt home matches of the season.
• It's Family Weekend and Alumni Weekend, and Georgia Southern is hosting a Block Party in the front parking lot of Hanner Fieldhouse prior to Friday night's match.

Ashlyn Lovett was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week after recording 53 digs in two matches, good for 5.89 per set.
• Georgia Southern trails the all-time series against Coastal Carolina 20-2 and has lost the last 12. The Eagles have lost the last six to Appalachian State and trail the all-time series, which began in 1989, 38-16.
• The Eagles' current five-match win streak is their longest since 2013, and their 7-3 record in non-conference play is their best non-league record since 2013, when they went 15-3 in non-conference play, which included a 3-1 mark in the postseason (3-0 in Southern Conference Tourney and 0-1 in NCAA Tourney).

Baylor Bumford is fifth in the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.323), and
Christina Walton ranks sixth (.318). Bumford is eighth (0.95/set), and Walton ranks fourth (1.04/set) in blocks.
• The Eagles rank third in the Sun Belt in aces (1.72/set), fifth in blocks (2.07/set) and second in hitting percentage (.247). GS also ranks fourth in opponent hitting percentage, holding its opponents to .161.

Madison Brown is the seventh Eagle to surpass 2,500 assists for her career, and the senior ranks sixth on the Georgia Southern all-time list with 2,596. She ranks first in the Sun Belt in aces (0.46/set) and fifth in assists (8.63).
Grace Slader ranks sixth in the Sun Belt in assists (8.19).
• Following the weekend, the Eagles play Georgia State in a home-and-home series Oct. 7 (Atlanta) and Oct. 9 (Hanner).
