
Men’s Basketball Adds Tre Cobbs

The 6-foot guard played at Kentucky Wesleyan last season.
STATESBORO – Georgia Southern men's basketball coach Brian Burg announced today that Tre Cobbs (Lima, Ohio/Kentucky Wesleyan) has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Eagles, beginning in the 2021-22 season.
A 6-foot guard, Cobbs averaged 16.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists a game at Division II Kentucky Wesleyan in 2020-21, earning first-team All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference honors. He scored in double figures in all 13 games and netted a season-high 30 vs. Malone (1/4). Cobbs spent three seasons at Northern Kentucky, where he played in 38 games and shot 55 percent from the field and 44 percent from 3-point range. He was named to the NABC Honors Court in 2019 and 2020. He won two high school state championships (2013-14 and 2015-16) and finished runner-up (2014-15) once at Lima Central Catholic in Lima, Ohio. Cobbs was tabbed first-team all-state as a senior after averaging 19.7 points per game and scored over 1,000 points during his prep career.
Cobbs is a graduate student pursuing a master's degree in sports management from Georgia Southern. He graduated from Northern Kentucky University in the organizational leadership field and also completed a degree from Kentucky Wesleyan in communications.

Tre is an extremely tough guard who will bring a winner's mentality to the Georgia Southern basketball program. We are excited about Tre joining our program."
