MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Georgia Southern baseball scored double-digit runs in both of their Pool B games this week in Montgomery, Alabama, defeating the ULM Warhawks X-X in the final pool play game.
 
The Eagles improved to 33-22 on the season, while the Warhawks' fall to 26-26. Georgia Southern will advance to the conference tournament semifinals against Louisiana tomorrow afternoon at Riverwalk Stadium.
 
Georgia Southern opened up the scoring in the bottom of the first, as Mason McWhorter homered to left field, a two-run home run over the train tracks. In the second, Jarrett Brown would add to the scoring with a sacrifice fly to center field to score Jason Swan. Christian Avant would ground into a fielder's choice, scoring Matt Anderson and Parker Biederer on an errant throw.
 
In the third, GS would increase its lead to 8-0, as Austin Thompson doubled to right field to score McWhorter. Jason Swan would double to right field to score Noah Ledford and Austin Thompson. In the fifth, Swan would fly out to right field to score Austin Thompson from third and increase the lead to 9-0.
 
ULM would tack on five unanswered runs in the sixth and seventh innings, before the Eagles shut the door and took home a 9-5 victory. Connor Bruce picked up his first career victory in the win, as the Eagles used eight different pitchers.
