Eagle Baseball Takes Series Finale

Box Score ELON, N.C. – Nick Jones worked the final two and 2/3 innings allowing two runs on five hits and striking out seven to pick up his nation leading 15th save of the season, as the Eagles defeated Elon 7-5 on Saturday to take the series finale. Georgia Southern improved to 29-20 on the season, while Elon falls to 19-19 on the season. 
 
Hayden Harris improved to 2-2 on the season, working 2/3 innings of work and striking out one batter. Georgia Southern used eight different pitchers in the victory on Saturday.
 
Elon took the lead in the first inning once again this weekend, scoring two runs in the bottom half. The Eagles would respond in the second as Chandler Davis singled through the right side to score Noah Ledford.
 
In the fourth, Noah Searcy would double to left center to score Austin Thompson, before Jarrett Brown scored on a wild pitch later in the inning. Matt Anderson would punch a sacrifice fly out to right field to score Noah Searcy, as they Eagles extended their lead to 4-1.
 
In the seventh Elon scored on a wild pitch to cut the Eagle lead to one. In the top of the ninth, Georgia Southern would add three runs on a Mason McWhorter two-run bomb and a Noah Ledford solo home run. Elon would put the pressure on in the bottom half, scoring twice to end the game at 7-5.
