STATESBORO - Georgia Southern Head Women's Tennis Coach
Sean McCaffrey announced the signing of Ninon Martinache to a NLI in the early signing period, joining the defending Sun Belt Conference champion Eagles for the Fall of 2022.
Martinache is a native of Dunkirk, France, where she has excelled in not only tennis but field hockey as well. Martinache captured the regional championship and advanced to the semi-finals of the French championship. She attends Lycee Jean Bart and will major in Sport Management at Georgia Southern. Martinache plays for Club Dunkerque.
"I chose Georgia Southern because the feeling I had with the Coach McCaffrey immediately made a huge impact on me," Martinache said. "I got the sense that the team, and the program as a whole, truly cared about my personal development as both a student and as an athlete, and that would allow me to work towards achieving my dreams. And I know the University and my teammates will make me feel like I'm home. I am so excited to be an Eagle!"
"We have been very fortunate to have had so many wonderful and talented young women show interest in Georgia Southern over my past few years," Head Coach McCaffrey said. "And Ninon rose to the top of what I consider an extremely strong recruiting class. Her desire to work hard both in the classroom and in her tennis training was evident from the beginning. But what impressed me the most perhaps is the leadership qualities she demonstrated throughout the recruiting process. You could tell Ninon is driven to succeed and is ready to be part of something far bigger than herself. She has a servant and leadership attitude to go along with the heart of a Lion. Ninon will most certainly feel right at home here in Statesboro."
