STATESBORO – Georgia Southern freshman and sophomore student-athletes participated in finance seminars, presented by Synovus Bank, Monday night as part of the Georgia Southern Athletics APEX (Athletes Preparing for Employment EXperiences) program.
Employees from Synovus Bank spoke to the Eagles about basic financial principles, including setting budgets, credit management and financial planning, in the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center.
"We are very excited to have Synovus Bank as a part of the APEX program and talk to our student-athletes tonight and help them develop a sound financial foundation, as they prepare for the future and transition to Life After Sport," said Senior Associate Athletics Director Student-Athlete Development Gleen Hart.
Led by Hart and Senior Associate Athletics Director for Administration Tracy Ham, the APEX program fosters the holistic growth of all Georgia Southern student-athletes based on four pillars: life skills, leadership development, career growth and community engagement. The vision statement of the program is to "develop confident and independent leaders to win in their careers, communities and households."
