Men's Basketball Participates in First Buddy Ball Event

The Eagles play host to Arkansas State Tuesday at 7 p.m. on Senior Night.
STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern men's basketball team took time between its final two league games of the season to participate in the first Buddy Ball Event Sunday at Sallie Zetterower Elementary School.
Buddy Ball allows children with special needs to take to the court as the student-athletes served as a "buddy" for a child, helping him or her to experience the game of basketball. The Eagles paired with their "buddies" and played a full game that ended in a 48-48 tie. Organizers hope to make Basketball Buddy Ball an annual event.
The Eagles return to action Tuesday at 7 p.m., when they play host to Arkansas State on Senior Night in their final regular-season contest.
The Eagles can be no higher than the third seed and no lower than the fifth seed in the upcoming Sun Belt Tournament, which means Georgia Southern will host a conference tournament game in Hanner for the first time since 1992.
If No. 3 or 4, Georgia Southern will host a game March 11 in Hanner Fieldhouse, and the tipoff time will be 7:30 p.m. If the No. 5 seed, GS will host a game in Hanner March 9 at 7 p.m. The full bracket will be announced tomorrow night after the final league game is complete.
