ATLANTA – Isaiah Crawley collected 18 points, eight rebounds and three assists, and Georgia Southern held Georgia State to 35 percent shooting and never trailed in a 79-70 Sun Belt men's basketball win over Georgia State Friday night in the GSU Sports Arena.

The win broke a nine-game losing streak at Georgia State for the Eagles, whose last win at Georgia State was during the 1991-92 season. Southern also picks up a point in the Southern vs. State Rivalry Series and now leads the competition 6-5.

Eagles of the Game
Crawley made 6 of 8 from the floor and 6 of 8 from the free-throw line. Ike Smith tallied 15 points, six rebounds and two assists, and Calvin Wishart notched 12 points, three boards and three assists. Simeon Carter added 11 points and four rebounds. Quan Jackson had eight points and nine rebounds, and Elijah McCadden posted eight points, seven boards and three assists.

Key Moments
Carter, McCadden and Jackson all had dunks in a 9-0 Eagle run that opened a 60-45 Southern cushion with 7:21 left in the game. The Panthers scored the next seven and trimmed the margin to eight on a Kane Williams triple, but Carter answered with a dunk and Crawley added a free throw while the Eagles got consecutive defensive stops.

Southern (18-12, 12-7) went on to push the margin back to 14 on a Jackson free throw with 1:55 remaining, and the Eagles made 8 of 10 from the charity stripe the rest of the way to seal the win.

Southern made four of its first five shots from the floor to jump out to a 9-0 lead to start the game and force State (18-12, 11-8) to spend a timeout. The Panthers fought all the way back and trimmed the lead to 25-24 on a Justin Roberts jumper with 6:24 left in the half, but Smith scored five points in an 8-2 Eagle run that capped the stanza and sent Southern into the break with a 39-31 cushion.

Key Stats
The Eagles held State to 31 percent shooting in the first half, but the Panthers stayed in the game by forcing 12 turnovers and scoring 12 points off the miscues.
