Three Qualify For Finals, Nagwandala Scores Team Points on Day One of SBC Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Georgia Southern track and field team qualified three athletes for finals in four events and scored a total of three team points Monday at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championship at the Birmingham Crossplex.

Finals Qualifiers:
Scovia Ayikoru qualified for the 200m finals running a 24.48 to place third in the prelims.
Scovia Ayikoru qualified for the 400m finals with a 56.72 to place eighth in the prelims.
Aris Hubbard qualified for the 200m finals running a personal-best 24.61 to place fifth in the prelims.
Zykeria Williams qualified for the 60m hurdle finals with a time of 8.73 and an eighth-place finish in the prelims.

Scorers:
Merabu Nagwandala placed sixth in the 5000m to earn the Eagles three team points. The Sophomore again broke her own school record with a time of 17:36.81.

The Eagles are currently in ninth place ahead of Arkansas-Little Rock and Louisiana.

Action begins Tuesday with the weight throw at 2:00 p.m.
