A 2019 All-American, Fisk was a two-time Sun Belt Men’s Golfer of the Year.
STATESBORO – Georgia Southern men's golf coach Carter Collins announced today that Steven Fisk has joined his coaching staff as a volunteer assistant.
The two-time Sun Belt Men's Golfer of the Year, Fisk was a first-team PING and Golfweek All-America selection and a finalist for the Haskins Award – the Heisman Trophy of college golf – in 2018-19. He finished second at the NCAA Championships at 5-under-par after shooting 68-68-71 in the last three rounds, and it was the 13th top-5 finish in his stellar Georgia Southern career and his 25th career top-10. He passed Eagle great Jodie Mudd (1978-82) for the school record in career victories with nine, earned a spot on the All-Nicklaus Team and was selected to the U.S. Walker Cup Team, where he helped Team USA retain the cup, becoming the first team to win on foreign soil since 2007.
"We are excited and humbled that Steven accepted our invitation to be the volunteer assistant coach in our program," said Collins. "Having someone with his experience, knowledge and work ethic will be a tremendous asset to all of us. Steven contributed so much during his four-year career, and it means the world to me that he would want to come back to the program and help. It shows his passion for Georgia Southern as well as his leadership qualities."
"I'm very humbled that Coach Collins has asked me to be a small part of the program again," said Fisk. "I'm excited to work with Coach Collins, Coach (Crawford) Simmons and the team to help in any way I can."
Georgia Southern finished seventh at the Gator Invitational last weekend, their first team competition of the spring. The Eagles play at the Colleton River Collegiate in Beaufort, S.C., March 2-3, in their next event.
