STATESBORO – Georgia Southern men's basketball coach Brian Burg announced today that Mannie Harris (Camilla, Ga./Mitchell County) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Georgia Southern and compete for the Eagles, beginning in the 2021-22 season.
A 6-foot-3 guard, Harris is ranked as a Top-200 player and the 16th-best combo guard nationally by 247 sports, as well as one of the top-10 player in the state of Georgia by Hoopseen. Coach Burg on Harris
"Mannie Harris is everything we look for in a student-athlete. He has great size, speed, athleticism and shooting ability. Mannie is a perfect fit for the culture of Georgia Southern Basketball and a great ambassador for our university from right in our backyard. We have enjoyed building a relationship with Mannie and his family. Georgia Southern fans are going to love the energy and enthusiasm that Mannie will bring to Hanner Fieldhouse"
Brian Snow – 247 sports
"Mannie Harris is one of the true late risers in the state of Georgia. He has good size for a guard and can really score. Also he is an athlete who is capable of defending multiple positions and his best basketball is ahead of him. I see him being a one of the best players in the Sun Belt Conference for multiple years."
Justin Young - Hoopseen
"Mannie Harris is one of the best two-way players in the south's 2021 class and one of the most important mid-major signees in the nation. I think he has the skill set to shine right away as a shot-maker and play-maker. It's always hard to say with definitiveness, but I think Harris could be one of the most important signees in Georgia Southern's history over the last decade."
Georgia Southern is scheduled to open the 2020-21 season Nov. 25, in a 1 p.m. tipoff against Florida National in Hanner Fieldhouse.
