Eagles Blank Appalachian State on Sunday

BOONE, N.C. – Georgia Southern women's soccer picked up a huge 1-0 win on Sunday afternoon in Boone, N.C. The Eagles improved to 2-6-0 on the season and 2-4-0 in conference play, while the Mountaineers fall to 2-7-1 and 2-5-0 in conference play.

Minutes into the match, Marcela Montoya found some empty space and ripped a shot that found the back of the net to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the first five minutes. Sara Story collected the first clean-sheet of her career, blanking the Mountaineers, while stopping one shot.

The Eagles defense held strong late in the match, as Appalachian State peppered Story in net. One shot went off the crossbar with 15 minutes remaining, but the Eagle defenders were able to clear the ball and get to the final whistle.
