STATESBORO - Georgia Southern Head Men's Soccer Coach
John Murphy announced the addition of a pair of transfers for the Eagles who will be a part of the team in 2020. Both players are currently enrolled in school in Statesboro and will compete during the 2020 Spring season.
Joining Georgia Southern are: 6-1 midfielder Gaye Diadie (Paris, France / Saginaw Valley State) and 6-0 midfielder/forward C.J. Smith (Brampton, Ontario / South Carolina).
Below is information on both of the transfers. Georgia Southern will begin its Spring season on Feb. 29, taking on UAB in Atlanta. The full Spring schedule will be released at a later date.

Coach Murphy: "Guye is a mature, experienced midfielder who will get plugged into the center of midfield for us. While he is a good user of the ball, his work rate and mind for the game will also settle us down defensively as well. The expectation is that Gaye should come in and contribute right away."

Played in 15 matches, starting seven, for the Gamecocks as a junior in 2019 ... Scored three goals and had one assist for seven points ... Scored a pair of goals in a 4-2 win over Presbyterian ... Also scored a goal in a 1-1 draw with Georgia Southern ... Prior to joining South Carolina, played for two seasons at Mississippi Gulf Coast CC ... Earned All-Conference honors as well as United Soccer Coaches All-Region accolades ... Graduated from David Suzuki Secondary School in Brampton, Ontario, where he played and was named team MVP ... Also played for the USL's Colorado Springs Switchbacks.
Coach Murphy: "C.J. is a mobile, technical attacker who can be deployed centrally or out wide. He is an intelligent player whose movement off the ball will add balance to our collective attack. We expect him to make an immediate impact on our team."
