Eagles of the Match
Baylor Bumford hit .400 for the match and added two digs and a block.
Key moments
The Eagles (5-7, 0-1) trailed 15-14 in the third after a Maddie Bryant kill, but Coastal Carolina (11-2, 1-0) scored the next four points. A kill by Carly Turner trimmed the margin to 20-17, but the Chants used another four-point run to pull away.
Key stats
The Chants held the Eagles to .052 hitting for the match with 21 kills and 16 errors.
Quotables from head coach Chad Willis
"It was a tough way to open up the conference schedule on the road against a really solid Coastal team. From the onset, they really pressured our first contact, and we struggled to really establish any sort of rhythm or consistency. We started to show more of our priorities and what we're capable of in the third set tonight. We'll build off that going into a day between matches tomorrow and get back to work!"
