STORYLINES
- Georgia Southern claimed its first Sun Belt Baseball Division Championship this year by winning the East and enters the postseason as the No. 2 seed. The Eagles play in a conference tournament in the Palmetto State for the 24th time in program history. The Eagles have won six tournaments in South Carolina with five coming under the tutelage of Head Coach Rodney Hennon. Georgia Southern's last tournament crown came in 2014 when the Eagles won the SoCon in Charleston.
- Georgia Southern lost 15-7 in a meaningless game to finish the regular season. With the East Division Championship sewn up for the Eagles, and a Georgia State's tee times scheduled the Panthers took the regular season finale for the second-straight year.
- 2019 marks Georgia Southern's fifth appearance in the Sun Belt Tournament. The Eagles have gone to the Championship Game twice in their four previous appearances and own a 6-6 overall record in the event. This is the seventh time since 2000 that the Eagles have entered the postseason as the No. 2 seed or higher. The Eagles have won their last two tournaments when entering as the No. 2 seed (2009 and 2005 SoCon).
- Georgia Southern has had an outstanding history in conference tournaments of making it to the business end of the bracket. The Eagles have reached the Championship Game 21 times with 10 victories in the finale.
- May has been a good month for the Eagles who went on a five-game streak of scoring 10+ runs earlier this month against Troy, Arkansas State and Kennesaw State. That's a feat that hadn't been done by the Eagles in the BBCOR era. The last time the Eagles scored in double digits in five straight games was April/May 2008 against Wofford, Jacksonville and The Citadel when the Eagles scored 80 runs in five games.
- Sun Belt games have been a boon for Mason McWhorter this season. In 30 league games, Mason hit .380 with 13 doubles, two triples and 11 home runs while driving in 50 runs off 49 hits. He is slugging .767 from the No. 2 slot in the lineup. All of his home runs this season have come in league play. His season has been highlighted by a three home run day in the finale at Troy and a career-high seven RBis in game two against South Alabama.
