Rhett Gay, a native of Twin City, is set to make his Division I debut on Wednesday night, making his first start for the Eagles.
Wednesday's game is Nurse Appreciation Night! All nurses and doctors will receive free admission to the game with proof of their medical ID.

STORYLINES
- Georgia Southern Baseball opens a five-game homestand on Wednesday night against the Kennesaw State Owls. The Eagles are coming off a five game, three site week in which Georgia Southern went 4-1 including a series win over App State.
- Georgia Southern tallied 10 hits in a 6-2 comeback win over Appalachian State. The Eagles got two hits from
Steven Curry and
Austin Thompson in the finale while
Daniel Collins added his fourth quality start to get the win.
- The Eagles and Owls square-off for the 27th time in a series that dates back to the 2007 season. Georgia Southern leads series 15-11 and has won five of the last six contests. Kennesaw State won the corresponding fixture last season 12-3 on April 10, 2018. The Eagles will travel to Cobb County on May 14 in the final week of the regular season.
- Among the many tools in his kit,
Steven Curry has shown a knack for wearing pitches. In his 142 career games with the Eagles, Steven has been hit 53 times to rank third in school history, only five behind J.R. Revere's career total. In 2019, Curry has been hit 11 times with seven coming in the weekend finale.
- Georgia Southern trailed Presbyterian College 5-2 entering the eighth inning on Tuesday night, but sent 13 batters to the plate and turned a three-run deficit into a five run lead when a run of 11-straight batters reached.
UP NEXT
The Eagles will welcome Texas State to Statesboro for a three game weekend series. Georgia Southern took two of three from the Bobcats last year in the Texas Hill Country. The Bobcats swept the Eagles last time they came to Statesboro, in April 2016.
