STORYLINES
- The first place Eagles return to league play for 12 of their final 13 regular season games. The stretch run of the 2019 season begins with South Alabama's biannual trip to Statesboro. The Eagles will look to tame the Jaguars since St. Patrick's Day 2017 when the Eagles downed South Alabama 8-5.
- The Eagles dropped a 5-1 decision to College of Charleston on Wednesday night as the Cougars avoided the season sweep. Steven Curry delivered two hits and finished the year at 8-for-10 against the Cougars and reached base in 11 of 13 plate appearances.
- The Eagles will look to snap an eight game skid against South Alabama this weekend. The Jags lead the all-time series 17-6 and won all five games last year including twice in the Sun Belt Tournament. South Alabama has ended the Eagles' season in each of the last two seasons including the 2017 Sun Belt Championship Game (7-6 in 11 innings) and in the 2018 Tournament (12-0 in 7 innings).
- Last week was a bumper week for the Eagle offense, hitting .351 with 36 runs scored and seven home runs. Four Eagles hit over the .400 mark, led by Jason Swan (.471). Steven Curry (.444), Noah Ledford (.438), and Mason McWhorter (.412) carried the water for the offense.
- The Eagles took their second-straight series win over Coastal Carolina on Easter Weekend. The Eagles are 4-2 in the newly renovated Springs Brooks Stadium. The ballpark will play host to the 2019 Sun Belt Tournament.
- Against Charleston Southern, junior Steven Curry had a three-hit day with all three going for a double. It was the first three double day for the Eagles since Kody Adams accomplished the feat in March 2015.
- Seth Shuman crossed a milestone in the win over ULM. He reached 200 career strikeouts and is now in striking distance of joining the Georgia Southern career top-10 strikeouts list. Shuman has 223 career Ks and needs 25 more punch outs to reach Tod Lee's (1995-97) total of 248.
- Among the many tools in his kit, Steven Curry has shown a knack for wearing pitches. In his 155 career games with the Eagles, Steven has been hit 56 times to rank third in school history, only three behind J.R. Revere's career total. In 2019, Curry has been hit 14 times with eight coming in the weekend finale.

UP NEXT
The Eagles continue their run of nine-straight league games next weekend with a trip to Troy. That series is scheduled for May 3-4-5.
