CHARLESTON, S.C. - Georgia Southern Baseball took its third-straight win on Tuesday night with a 6-2 win over The Citadel. The Eagles scored runs in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings to improve to 10-9 on the year, rising above .500 for the first time this season. Georgia Southern closes a six game road swing on Wednesday night at Charleston Southern. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
SCORING INNINGS
TOP 4th | GS 1 - CIT 0 | A leadoff single through the left side was validated when
Noah Ledford smashed a double to center.
Noah Searcy sprinted around to score on the play from first, scoring the game's first run.
TOP 5th | GS 3 - CIT 0 | Mason McWhorter converted an
Austin Thompson double for a run with an RBI single. Later in the frame, a sacrifice fly by
Noah Searcy brought in another run to make it a 3-0 lead.
TOP 6th | GS 5 - CIT 0 | The Eagles got a pair of runs off a single wild pitch, plating
JP Tighe and
Steven Curry. Tighe scampered home from third when the ball bounced and got away from the Bulldog backstop. As Tighe scored, the throw to the Bulldog pitcher hit off the batter,
Mason Miller, allowing Curry to score on the throwing error.
TOP 7th | GS 6 - CIT 0 | Georgia Southern loaded the bases in the seventh with one out. A
Jason Swan sacrifice fly to right was good enough to score the inning's only run and make it a 6-0 lead.
BOT 8th | GS 6 - CIT 2 | A leadoff double that was just shy of a home run, followed by a home run to right gave the home side their first runs of the game and cut the lead to 6-2.

Austin Thompson extended his team-best hit streak to nine games with a 2-for-3 game, including a double and a run scored. Thompson is hitting .388 over the streak.

Tyler Owens got his second win in his fourth start of the year. Owens threw seven shutout innings before allowing a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. He scattered eight hits and struck out seven with one walk over his 7.0+ innings of work.

Nolan Tressler went 2-for-3 with a run scored, but left the game early.
